Mrs. Paul Receives Provincial Award!

On Oct 23, 2020, Mrs. Paul received the 2020 BC Music Educators’ Association award for Outstanding Elementary Educator!

This is such an honour and the Lord Kelvin School community couldn’t be more proud of our music teacher. Mrs. Paul has taught generations of students who have wonderful memories of learning in her music class.

Karim Hachlaf, Superintendent, said, “Our school district, with all the lives you have positively impacted over your 42 years in New Westminster Schools, is extremely fortunate for your tremendous service to our students.”

Mrs. Paul is well known for her Christmas Concerts that incorporate all students in the highest grade who want to participate in the show. For many years, it was the grade seven students who could have a part in the show if they wanted and in the last few years it has been the grade 5 students. This meant many rehearsals at lunch and after school. For the choir, the other intermediate grades would sing the songs of the Christmas musical. The shows are incredibly well done and have been a highlight of the year for many.

The school choir is also something Mrs. Paul organizes. The Lord Kelvin Choir impresses everyone with their singing where ever they go with the outstanding direction of Mrs. Paul.

We know this is something Mrs. Paul deserves and it’s wonderful for her to be recognized in this way!
