Gr 5 Reading Link Challenge Success!

A team of Grade 5 students from Lord Kelvin won the bronze medal in the Lower Mainland Reading Link Challenge! This competition started with hundreds of teams so it is an incredible accomplishment for our students to finish third. Congratulations!

The Reading Link Challenge is organized by public libraries working alongside school teacher librarians and classroom teachers. Students work in teams and read a set of six novels selected for the year’s challenge. The challenge is to answer oral questions about the novels within a time limit. Thank you to our teacher librarian, Ms. Larissa Kaminsky, for organizing our school teams and assisting with the competition!

Winning teams from Coquitlam Fraser Valley Regional Library, New Westminster Library, North Vancouver City Library, and Surrey Libraries compete in the fourth level, the Grand Challenge, to determine the winning team. Other Lower Mainland library systems are welcome to join this level of challenge.

Superintendent Karim Hachlaf presented the six students, who called themselves the ‘Firefoxes’, with their bronze medals and certificates from New West Schools recognizing their achievement!
